The early shift for the demo – Marion, Blaine, Ann, Pat and Diane. Pat is always at the museum but we count her as one of ours. The skies cleared after the threat of more flooding and museum day went ahead as planned.
Later Susan A. joined us and we all spent the afternoon helping plant the seeds for tomorrow’s weavers. We demonstrated weaving on an inkle loom, four shaft loom, band loom, and a tapestry loom. Marion kept the little ones mesmerized with her spinning wheel.
Here’s one of the big smiles from the children who gave weaving a try at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
The museum was packed with other crafts people demonstrating their favorite passion. Metal workers, polymer clay, ceramic clay, woodworkers, quilters, basket makers, doll makers, calligraphers, and jewelry makers.
