Introduction to Tapestry Weaving
This 2-day class in tapestry will cover all the basics. No previous weaving experience needed! The first day will focus on learning some of the key techniques of tapestry weaving. These will include keeping your edges straight, bubbling in the yarn, weaving angles and curves, dealing with slits, marking your design on the warp, and generally avoiding common mistakes. The second day will expand on this knowledge with students weaving a small piece that can include color blending, meet-and-separate, pick-and-pick, using heddles etc.
Everything you need will be provided (a simple loom, warp yarn, weaving yarns, fork beater, bobbins). Although some yarns for weaving will be provided, if you have yarns you’re interested in using you are encouraged to bring them. If you’d like to purchase the provided loom, bring $25 to the class.
The instructor will contact you as you sign up to see if you have specific questions about Tapestry you’d like covered or any questions about the class, such as “Can I bring my own loom?”
