There’s a new study group at CHH! For several months, emails and newsletter articles have been going out announcing the formation of a Fiber Study Group (Houston) under the auspices of Contemporary Handweavers of Houston.
We have a date! Our first get together will be Wednesday, June 12th, 1:00-3:00pm.
This Fiber Study Group will have no officers. Current goal is to meet, share and nibble. (Bring nibbles to share if you like, we have coffee and tea with a little donation).
We will also have new members joining CHH in order to participate in this study group. If you are not a current CHH member, we will ask that you join CHH at this meeting if you plan to continue participating.
Our backgrounds will vary; anything from dyeing and felting to paper, natural fibers, knitting, crocheting, sewing, doll making – if it’s FIBER, it is welcome. We are handcraft artists and artisans working with fibers.
How the future evolves, we don’t know. No plans.
We have teachers in the group who periodically do workshops & classes. Since CHH has a workshop/class coordinator already, we will schedule all workshop/classes through CHH class coordinator.
During this meeting we will introduce ourselves and give a little background. We will pass a clipboard around with a few questions to be answered:
Your fiber skills
Your expectations of this group
Confirm the meeting date, i.e. 2nd Wednesday each month 1-3:00pm – if not then, when?
Also, let’s take pictures of the pieces we bring, plus take a photo of the group for posting online and in our next newsletter.
We will be meeting at the CHH Guild House, 1425 Blalock Rd, Ste 202, Houston, TX 77055. For this initial meeting, please contact Dottie Wood, 281-744-9270, dwood-design@sbcglobal.net with any questions.
