Fiber Study Group
Feb 11, 2015
The electricity turned on, as promised, during a brief show and tell:
Janet Bodin showed her doll trio dressed in felted fabric, which was a wonderful example for the workshop. Ivy also showed us more of her beautiful, innovative necklaces with new findings. She will have these for sale at the SAQA conference in Portland, OR in May.
Ivy Jensen gave us a preview of the March 12th Fiber Study Group program which will be a walking tour with Victoria Lightman of “Looking at Art”. There needs to be a minimum of 15 to tour, cost $35. Ivy will provide more details as soon as all arrangements are complete but The Asian Society will definitely be part of the tour.
Lynn Williams of Texas Fibers showed us her beautiful Merino wool, which some of us purchased, as well as pieces made with silk “roving” or sliver used in a silk fusion process.
Yvonne showed us many samples of the felted pieces and purses using the process she then demonstrated.
The “Hands On Program” was really fun, easy and we all left with wet projects tucked into panty hose ready to pop in the dryer. We hope to see JoAnn Luco’s “wild and crazy” piece after it’s tour through her dryer! The webweaver suggests: Check out other posts about our newest study group, the Fiber Study Group. Study Group posts are now being categorized by the study group name and also in a general study group category.
