SWATCH SWAP 2020

The Swatch Swap Study Group has been in existence in CHH for 30 years. We have a member who has participated since inception and some who have just joined providing many levels of experience.  Some members join during years when the subject interests them or when their schedule permits.

Swatch Swap is about sharing our love of weaving while exploring topics that change yearly. Our library volumes demonstrate the many we have studied thus far.

Typically we meet once a year, exchange our woven samples and choose a new topic for the following year. This time around we are changing the format to a more focused study.

We will meet 3 times this year and will study, communicate, share and explore simultaneously on Ravelry.com (CHH has a group link and we are called Swatch Swap 2020 on that link).

We invite you to join us as we learn about Anni Albers and the Bauhaus School of Design. Anni was a weaving icon who raised the level of textiles to an art form.

She said: “Besides surface qualities, such as rough and smooth, dull and shiny, hard and soft, textiles also includes colour, and as the dominating element, texture, which is the result of the construction of weaves. Like any craft it may end in producing useful objects, or it may rise to the level of art.”

We invite you to join us as we learn about Anni Albers and the Bauhaus School of Design. Our goal is to find inspiration in her work that will lead us to produce a sample that challenges us to explore, experiment, and simply try something new.

Meeting dates:

Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1 pm at the Guild House
