The Houston Indian community is inviting all of us to help celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday this week.
The celebration, 1000 Lights, lasts all week with school competitions in art, essays and speeches. It culminates in the Walk for Peace on Sunday afternoon, October 6, ending at Miller Outdoor Theater with the winning speeches, an address by the Mayor, dance and music performances and arts and crafts demonstrations (including Connie with her charkha).
Sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday.
Happy Birthday, Mahatma!
