The 2008-2009 membership form is NOW available. Remember, our address has changed to P.O. Box 270933, Houston, Texas 77277-0933, so make sure you send the form to the correct address - or bring it to the next meeting. To join us, you may use the Membership Form and mail it to the address on the form. You can find the Yellow Pages Form here also. See below for more information. If you cannot access these files, email us at information@weavehouston.org.

CHH Yellow Pages:

You can also list in the CHH Yellow Pages, a list of Businesses and Services provided by our members and their families. In addition to other businesses, you can also advertise weaving or spinning services you might offer. Prices are $5 for business cards, $15 for a half page, and $20 for a full page.

You can also use the "Green Pages" in the back for coupons.

The advertisements, coupons and fees should be turned in with your membership renewal form and like your membership renewal fees, have a deadline of July 15th.

Dues are $25/per year for a single member, or $30 for a family. The membership year runs from May through June. Membership entitles you to participate in meetings, classes, workshops and other activities of the guild. You will receive the membership book and monthly newsletters. Local members will have the opportunity to rent equipment and check out library books and videos. Members may also participate in volunteer activities and study groups around the city. Membership in CHH is a vehicle to learn more about fibers, fabrics and the people who create them. Perhaps you would like to learn along with us.

Membership Book The CHH membership book is a great reference. [And once you are a member, you can access much of the content in the Member section of the website.] The Membership book includes the following information and more!

  • Member List - A directory of members.
  • Equipment Rental List - Equipment (looms, spinning wheels, etc.) owned by the guild which is available for rent at a modest monthly cost to local members.
  • Program and Workshop Information
  • Library Catalog - CHH has an extensive library of books, monographs, video tapes and swatch collections to help us learn about the fiber arts.
  • Study Groups - As a member, you are eligible to participate in any that you like. Some meet during weekdays and others in the evening or on weekends. The purpose is to study a particular area of weaving, spinning, etc. and to create a project to share with the group.
  • Mentors - Our members love to share information, whether it be about what type of equipment to purchase or which yarn is best, or what dye recipe they prefer. If you are a member with a problem, there is someone to help. We publish a long list, so there's sure to be someone in your vicinity.
  • Survey of Equipment - Equipment owned by members. If you are in the market for a loom and don't know which one you want to purchase, you can investigate the pros and cons with other loom owners!
  • Calendar - Special events and volunteer activities - some are in the membership book and others are passed on to members through the newsletter and at the meetings. Some of our activities include:
    • February/March - Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo weaving and spinning demonstrations
    • Spring - Retreat or Art Camp
    • Fall - Annual Show and Sale
    • December - Candlelight Tour in Sam Houston Park sponsored by the Harris County Heritage Society. We demonstrate spinning and weaving.

If you are a weaver, spinner or felter in the greater Houston area come visit one of our meetings as our guest. We look forward to meeting you and having you join others who enjoy these fiber activities.
