More Day at the Improv
Mary Ann Littlejohn has been an art quilter for many years. She will be leading another FREE workshop continuing her improvisational style of cutting and piecing.
We will be playing with fabric. It’s a lot more fun if corners and points don’t have to match. Remember we can make up the rules as we go? If you weren’t here for our June play day you can catch up or borrow from Mary Ann’s stash of bits and pieces.
Using gentle curves we will continue creating a design with strip sets (narrow and wide) and triangles as upper right. Use some leftovers from June. NEW TECHNIQUES will include checkerboards and set-in squares as in borders at right.
SUPPLY LIST: Mary Ann will bring a two irons.
-Basic sewing supplies: scissors, pins, extra needles
-Sewing machine: cord, foot pedal, bobbins
-Extension cord
-1?4” foot, if you have one
-Neutral thread
-Piece of batting as design wall ( 24”X24” WILL BE MORE THAN ENOUGH) can be used later for quilting if you wish
-Rotary Cutter with NEW blade. Medium size, 45mm if you have one
-Rotary Mat: 18 x 24”
-Fabric: You won’t need to purchase anything special for this project. You can use fat quarters, leftover strips and scraps. We won’t use very much of anything so make them as interesting as possible. Include some lights and darks.
Include:
-6-8 solid colors, including black and white
-Assorted prints, hand dyes, ethnic, Bali’s, stripes or small plaid
-Two rulers (such as 5×12, 6×24, 3×18 or 6×6) – we will be using these as weights – not to cut straight lines.
Email Mary Ann if you plan to attend so she will know how many to plan for.
