Officially started (sort of)

February 27th, 2009

I tied on to the apron bar today.  I double checked the tie up of the treadles.  I am using a counter march loom – eight shafts, twelve treadles.  This requires 192 ties between the upper and lower lamms.

It is late and I have discovered an error.  eight ends in a dent instead of four.  I will correct this tomorrow evening after work ! Ugh!  However it looks really pretty.cotton-header

Finally sleying the reed !

I recently

started a part-time job so it has slowed the progress on the project a little.  I will probaby finish sleying the reed today.  The tie-up is already finished. I am going to be using an electric bobbin winder to wind the pirns.  I wound one with a manual bobbin winder and it took for ever to fill one pirn.

6 more inches

The DDDWDD Blog was officially announced at the CHH meeting and on the CHH website this week. Your interest in this adventure is motivating me to keep up the pace, both at the loom and the computer.

I am in the home stretch in threading.  6 more inches (360 threads).  Then on to sleying the reed.  I will post a picture of that.  I am chom

ping at the bit to throw the shuttle.

Still threading heddles

February 11th, 2009

I have 48 inches to thread. 60 threads per inch.  I am threading very carefully and double checking for errors.  The repeat is 23 ends and will  form threadinga triangle twill motif.  I do believe that white is easier to see than black.

Beaming the Warp

It is a good feeling to get the warp securely wound on to the warp beam.  It took over an hour to wind on.  It looks beautiful.

On A Roll

I may have to keep making new entries until I am fully comfortable with the process.  Bear with me…I am going to insert one more picture and then back to the loom to work!

Learning to Blog

February 5th, 2009

This is going to take some practice.   In the mean time I have started threading the pattern for the wedding dress fabric.  Blogging will take me longer than weaving 10 yards of very fine silk

I'm Helping My Momma!

Hello fellow weavers.

When I became the mother of a little baby girl, I began to daydream about weaving the fabric for her wedding gown some day.  Well the day is here and the work has begun. As of January 25, 2009 I have 6 months.  This is Sara 8 months old and happy to hang out and “help”
